A worker at a Paxton, IL grain elevator was hurt on May 6 following an accident involving a skid loader.

The accident happened at Ludlow Cooperative’s facility in Paxton Monday morning. David Kaeding, Chief Deputy of the Ford County Sheriff’s Office, said the incident was initially reported to be a grain entrapment, but responders arrived to find a different accident had occurred.

Kaeding said that while the employee was operating a skid loader, the cab separated from the body of the machine. This can be done under controlled circumstances for maintenance, but it is unknown why it happened while the skid loader was operating.

The employee’s legs became caught between the two components of the machine. Kaeding said he was in a lot of pain but was conscious and talking with responders.
