Clinton, IA firefighters rescued an ADM Growmark employee trapped inside a stalled elevator on May 4.

Emergency radio communications stated the individual had been trapped inside for a few hours at the time of the call.

According to a release by the City of Clinton, the Clinton Fire Department was dispatched to ADM Growmark on South Fourth Street at 1:11 a.m. on Saturday.

An ADM employee had used the elevator to descend from the top of a grain tower when the elevator stalled about 40 to 50 feet from the bottom.

The release states that fire crews used a 100-foot ladder truck to reach the top of the grain silo. The employee applied a safety harness and was tied off with a safety rope. The employee climbed out of the elevator then descended an internal ladder.

No injuries were reported.

Seven Clinton firefighters were on scene for two hours and were assisted by Otis Elevator Company, Lawson Rigging Company, and ADM Growmark The Clinton Police Department was also on scene.
