Minneapolis, November 14, 2023—The Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS) is pleased to announce John Caupert as the newly appointed Executive Director, set to commence duties on December 11, 2023. With over three decades of experience in agribusiness, Caupert will play a pivotal role in leading GEAPS into the next phase of its mission.
Caupert said he is both honored and humbled to be selected to lead GEAPS, which he described as an organization that has paved the way for thousands of people and companies in both the grain elevator and processing industries. “GEAPS is a member-driven organization, a resource for its members, which means GEAPS is about people. I look forward to getting to know the heart and soul of GEAPS and its members. More than 3,000 strong GEAPS members represent all areas of the grain industry. By respecting our traditions while also keeping an eye on the future, I have faith that together, we will go far.”
Caupert earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in agribusiness economics with a specialization in agriculture policy from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He and his wife, Jodee, live in Waterloo, IL. Their daughter is a first-year student at Lindenwood University.
Caupert brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served as the Executive Director of the National Corn to Ethanol Research Center (NCERC). During his 17-year tenure, he successfully directed the commercialization of over 80 technologies, transforming NCERC into a self-sustained entity through private-sector contractual research and grants. Caupert takes on his role while preparations are underway for the GEAPS Exchange in February in Kansas City, MO, and the GEAPS’ Leadership Conference in May in Fort Worth, TX.
GEAPS Board Chair Chris Blair highlighted Caupert's extensive background, stating, “John brings international experience to go along with his expertise in the processing industry and executive director experience.
Glen Gudino, President of GEAPS Media Group, will continue to lead all media brands within the organization. Julia Kloehn, GEAPS Operations Director and interim CEO during the transition period, will serve as Director of Operations.
