U.S. Grains & BioProducts Council Regional Marketing Manager Rowena Ngumbang led a group of pet food industry representatives from the Philippines and Malaysia at the 2026 Pet Food Formulation & Production Masterclass in Thailand earlier this month.
The masterclass provided participants with updated information on pet nutrition, ingredient functionality, formulation strategies, quality assurance, processing technologies and global market trends. It also connected participants with internationally recognized experts and industry leaders.
“By enhancing technical knowledge and strengthening relationships with key manufacturers, the Council is identifying additional opportunities for product development, future formulation trials and long-term commercial partnerships that will drive demand for U.S. agricultural products in the Philippines and the broader region,” said Ngumbang.
The Council’s regional office in Southeast Asia and Oceania has focused on increasing awareness and use of U.S. feed grain ingredients, including distillers dried grains with solubles, corn gluten meal and sorghum, in the region’s growing pet food sector.
The conference covered different aspects of pet food production each day, beginning with nutritional requirements and input ingredients before moving into industry best practices and formulation strategies.
The final sessions focused on pet food manufacturing and processing, safety and quality measurements, and marketing strategies to increase consumer demand.
“Supporting the continued growth and competitiveness of the Philippines’ and Malaysia’s pet food sectors while reinforcing the Council’s role as a trusted technical resource and industry partner improves the lives of customers while generating demand for U.S. producers,” Ngumbang said.
