The National Sorghum Producers congratulated Luke Lindberg on his selection to lead the United Nations World Food Programme and thanked him for his service to American agriculture as USDA undersecretary for trade and foreign agricultural affairs.
Lindberg’s new role will include leading the U.N. agency responsible for providing food assistance to people facing hunger and food insecurity around the world.
NSP Chair Amy France, a sorghum farmer from Scott City, Kansas, said Lindberg understands the role American sorghum farmers play in feeding people around the world. NSP credited his leadership at USDA and his efforts to connect U.S. agriculture with global needs.
U.S. sorghum farmers have long contributed to international food assistance through programs such as Food for Peace. NSP said it looks forward to working with Lindberg to strengthen connections between American-grown commodities and communities that depend on food assistance.
