Frontier Agriculture has completed its purchase of Aberdeen Grain’s grain storage facility at Whiterashes, securing the site’s long-term future following completion of due diligence and approval by Aberdeen Grain members.
The acquisition will maintain grain handling capacity in the region and provide continuity for growers, customers and employees. The transaction also strengthens Frontier Agriculture’s grain handling network in Scotland, supporting growers and customers with infrastructure, expertise and services.
Growers will continue to have access to the Whiterashes facility, with grain handling, customer service and support continuing during the transition. Frontier Agriculture and Aberdeen Grain will work with growers to facilitate the transfer to the new arrangements.
Employees transferring to Frontier Agriculture have joined the company under TUPE arrangements, supporting continuity of expertise, knowledge and service at the facility.
Frontier Agriculture grain director Simon Christensen said the acquisition strengthens the company’s grain handling network in Scotland and reinforces its long-term commitment to supporting growers.
Aberdeen Grain chair Murray Forsyth said the transaction provides continuity for growers and employees while securing a future for the Whiterashes facility.
With the transaction complete, Aberdeen Grain will proceed with the appropriate members’ voluntary liquidation process. The process is the standard legal procedure for a member-owned cooperative following completion of this type of transaction.
