RiceTec has officially opened a new greenhouse facility in Alvin, Texas, expanding the company’s capacity for rice breeding and research as it works to develop technologies for growers worldwide.
The opening was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by RiceTec employees, members of the RiceTec Board of Directors and project team members involved in planning and constructing the facility.
The greenhouse will support RiceTec’s breeding and research initiatives, accelerate the development of new technologies and strengthen the company’s ability to develop solutions for rice growers.
Amitabh Mohanty, global head of research and development, opened the event with remarks focused on collaboration, safety and scientific excellence. Attendees also learned about the facility’s infrastructure and its role in supporting RiceTec’s long-term research and development efforts.
Princess Tatjana von und zu Liechtenstein, a member of the Princely Family of Liechtenstein and chair of the Liechtenstein Group, RiceTec’s long-term owner, officially cut the ribbon during the ceremony.
The facility represents an investment in RiceTec’s efforts to advance rice science and develop technologies designed to help farmers increase yields, improve resource efficiency and contribute to global food security.
Employees from multiple functions contributed to the planning, construction and launch of the facility. RiceTec said the greenhouse will provide a resource for accelerating discovery and supporting innovation in rice agriculture.
The new facility comes as global demand for rice continues to grow. RiceTec said the greenhouse will strengthen its ability to develop productive and sustainable farming solutions for growers and support agricultural progress for years to come.
