The National Corn Growers Association is urging the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry to advance the Agricultural Act of 2026 before lawmakers leave for the planned August recess, citing the limited time remaining for Congress to approve the legislation.
In a letter sent Aug. 4 to committee leadership and members, NCGA President Jed Bower encouraged the committee to move the farm bill forward by the end of the week. Bower said corn growers recognize there are few legislative days left in the current Congress for both the farm bill and year-round E15 legislation to pass and be signed into law.
Bower also praised the bill's inclusion of language that would allow the year-round sale of fuel containing 15% ethanol, known as E15. He said the provision would support corn growers and rural communities while helping reduce fuel costs for consumers.
The letter notes that NCGA views year-round E15 as a key deregulation measure that would expand market access for higher ethanol blends and increase demand for corn.
In addition to E15, the association highlighted several policy provisions in the legislation that are important to its members, outlining areas of interest for corn growers as the committee considers the bill.
NCGA called on the committee to advance the legislation this week to improve its chances of passage before Congress begins its August recess.
