The American Soybean Association is supporting efforts by U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins and Sen. John Hoeven to restore the prevented plant buy-up option under the federal crop insurance program.
The organization said it has long advocated for reinstating the option, describing it as an important risk management tool for soybean farmers. ASA welcomed the U.S. Department of Agriculture's commitment to work toward restoring the provision.
ASA said crop insurance remains a key part of the farm safety net and that restoring the prevented plant buy-up option would provide producers with greater certainty as they manage weather-related risks and ongoing economic challenges.
The association also recognized Hoeven's leadership and Rollins' support for advancing the effort.
ASA said it plans to continue working with USDA until the prevented plant buy-up option is restored.
