The National Corn Growers Association recognized Rep. Randy Feenstra, R-Iowa, with its President's Award during the organization's summer Corn Congress meeting in Washington, honoring his support for corn growers and ethanol policy.
Feenstra, a member of the House Agriculture Committee, was recognized for his advocacy of priorities important to corn producers, including expanding market access for ethanol. NCGA highlighted his role in advancing House legislation in May that would authorize year-round sales of E15, a measure that has been a top priority for the organization and U.S. corn farmers.
NCGA President Jed Bower said Feenstra has consistently supported rural communities and corn grower priorities. He credited the Iowa lawmaker's efforts with helping secure House passage of the year-round E15 legislation and recognized his long-standing work on behalf of the industry.
Feenstra said representing one of the nation's largest corn-producing districts has allowed him to advocate for producers facing rising input costs. He said passage of the year-round E15 bill in the House was made possible through the advocacy of corn growers who traveled to Washington to meet with lawmakers. He added that he plans to continue working with Senate colleagues to advance the legislation and send it to the president for consideration.
The NCGA President's Award is one of the organization's highest honors and is presented annually to a recipient selected by the board president.
Corn Congress is held twice each year and brings together NCGA voting delegates to debate policy positions and elect new members to the organization's board.
