4B Components is simplifying speed monitoring with a single Universal Speed Relay designed to make it easier to order the right technology for any operation.
"We wanted to design a Universal Speed Relay for high-precision applications that is as simple to use and as flexible as the rest of our speed monitoring line," said Brian Knapp, vice president of the electronics division. "It's more sophisticated and provides a higher level of confidence than similar programmable relays available on the market today."
The 4B Universal Speed Relay is a versatile digital speed monitor designed for precision and proactive operations management.
"Traditionally, customers face a complex process of matching speed relay pulse rates with the sensors wired to them," Knapp said. "But this single universal unit can replace all of the other models, which simplifies the ordering process for customers."
Compatible with 2-, 3- or 4-wire NPN/PNP sensors, including 4B Components proximity, WDA, Encoder-Flex 1024 and extra-heavy-duty Rotech sensors, it features dual user-programmable outputs with independent setpoints, a color LCD display and a three-button interface.
Improvements that make the Universal Speed Relay more versatile include:
• Powered with 110-230 VAC or 24 VDC
• Accepts either PNP or NPN input
• Works with 2-wire sensors in addition to 3- and 4-wire sensors
• Digital display with greater precision for configuring setpoints
• Capable of monitoring both overspeed and underspeed
• Includes a solid-state relay output in addition to a mechanical relay output
