Growth Energy CEO Emily Skor highlighted recent policy achievements and emerging market opportunities for the ethanol industry during keynote remarks at the 42nd annual International Fuel Ethanol Workshop & Expo (FEW) on June 2.

Speaking to industry leaders gathered at the annual conference, Skor emphasized ethanol's role in supporting U.S. energy production, lowering fuel costs, and strengthening rural economies. She pointed to growing momentum across the ethanol sector and highlighted collaboration among ethanol producers, corn growers, farm organizations and petroleum industry stakeholders.

A key focus of her remarks was the recent passage by the U.S. House of Representatives of legislation that would allow year-round, nationwide sales of E15, a fuel blend containing 15% ethanol. Skor described the vote as a significant policy milestone for the industry and cited broad bipartisan support for the measure.

She also highlighted continued efforts to expand E15 availability at retail fuel stations and to increase ethanol exports to international markets. In addition, Skor discussed opportunities to grow ethanol demand in new transportation sectors, including maritime shipping, sustainable aviation fuel production and heavy equipment applications.

According to Skor, the industry is increasingly focused on expanding ethanol's role beyond traditional on-road transportation markets. She noted that investments are already being made in emerging sectors that require additional supplies of lower-carbon energy.

“Keep reaching out to your local officials,” Skor said. “Keep hosting plant tours. And let’s think even closer to home—does your neighbor fill up with E15? Do your family members make sure to look for ethanol? We need to be our own evangelists—from the White House and Capitol Hill to the July 4th barbecues in our backyards.”

The 2026 FEW is being held June 2-4 in St. Louis. The event is considered the world's largest and longest-running ethanol conference, bringing together biofuels producers, technology providers, researchers and industry stakeholders to discuss innovations and developments across the ethanol sector.
