Last week, Mark Sevier joined the U.S. Grains & BioProducts Council (USGBC) as manager of global strategies and trade, based in the organization’s Washington, D.C., headquarters. Sevier is assuming the role Alexander Grabois held as Grabois transitions to his new role as deputy regional director for Latin America, based in the Council’s Panama City office.

Sevier will support the global strategies team in advancing market development programs and provide trade servicing expertise to strengthen relationships with U.S. and global traders, Council customers and end-users worldwide.

“Mark brings a strong background in international trade and financial management, with 16 years of experience working across 20 countries, that aligns perfectly with the Council’s mission of developing markets, enabling trade and improving lives through strategic deployment of resources,” said Kurt Shultz, USGBC senior director of global strategies.

Sevier brings more than five years of experience as a director at ACDI/VOCA, where he managed agricultural trade relationships, designed and led private sector marketing and promotion initiatives and backstopped U.S. Department of Agriculture funding programs. Previously, he worked at Fintrac, mobilizing private investments to scale commercial agriculture technologies into growing markets.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Ithaca College.
