The Denver Fire Department rescued a Frito-Lay employee from a corn silo at the Denver Frito-Lay plant on Monday after the employee fell 40 feet into the silo. The corn cushioned the employee's fall. The employee was medically evaluated at the scene, and there were no injuries reported.
Fire crews performed a confined space rescue to safely extract the employee from the silo.
Frito-Lay's parent company, PepsiCo, released the following statement in response to the incident:
"We are aware of an incident involving one of our employees earlier today at our Denver Frito-Lay facility. The employee received prompt medical attention for minor injuries and is expected to be okay. Safety is our top priority, and we are reviewing the incident in line with our standard protocols. The incident did not impact our operations or products."
