Cleanup continues and roads remain closed after a Union Pacific train derailed and 14 cars overturned in the downtown of a small North Texas town, according to Waxahachie city officials. Union Pacific told MySA the train cars were carrying ethanol at the time of the derailment. No released ethanol or leaks have been reported.
According to Union Pacific, the train was pulling 16 cars when it derailed in downtown Waxahachie around 11:30 p.m. on Monday, June 9. Waxahachie is located about 30 miles south of Dallas and has a population of just over 40,000.
