AURORA, Neb. (KSNB) - A late-night dust explosion at an ethanol plant in Aurora prompted a multi-agency response Tuesday, according to officials.

Aurora Fire Chief Tom Cox said the explosion occurred in the grain handling area of KAAPA Partners Aurora, LLC, located near Highway 34 and N Road. He explained that something became hot enough to ignite dust in the grain elevator.

The Aurora Volunteer Fire Department, Aurora Police Department, and Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office responded, along with the Nebraska State Fire Marshal, who was on the scene Tuesday night. The fire marshal is expected to return Wednesday with a grain inspector to further investigate.

Crews were dispatched around 9 p.m., with the last truck leaving the scene by 11:30 p.m. No injuries were reported.
